Looking Back at 2018

Looking Back at 2018

2018 has been an exciting year for youth employment in South Africa: YES (Youth Employment Scheme) was launched in March, aiming to connect 1 million youth to jobs by creating new work opportunities with partners in business, government, labour and in communities; TVETs and SETAs have partnered together to create the Co-Ordinating SETA-TVET Office (CSTO) to better align TVETs with Employers; and the WorkFit Campaign has launched its full range of services.

This includes our promotional campaign around the WorkFit Toolkit and raising awareness about youth employability and the importance of being demand-driven as well as offering workshops centred around designing youth employment interventions and providing technical support to TVETs who would like to better align their programmes with employers’ demand to increase the employability of their students.

Wishing everyone a wonderful and relaxing Festive season and a very happy new year!

    Hi Stephanie
Just a quick note that you might find interesting.
YES has created over 16 000 work experiences (12 month paid employment) for previously unemployed youth in the first 4 months of 2019.

To give you an idea of economic impact of the initiative, it is moving a minimum of R56 million per month into the pockets of youth and continuing to grow.

Feel free to drop me a line if you would like further info.

    Exciting times!
